Plan B is a 10-week Traineeship programme delivered by the Essex Youth Service. The traineeship consists of a 4-week work placement, an opportunity to gain functional skills qualifications in Mathematics and English, a Level 2 in Customer Services and a Level 1 Health and Safety qualification. Plan B offers learners the opportunity to gain valuable skills for the workplace and the focus is on progressing learners to Education, Employment and/or Training upon completion.

School leavers

School leavers without a recognised progression route can participate on Plan B, if entry criteria is satisfied.

Work Experience/Study Programmes

As detailed in the bio- learners are offered a 4-week work placement in an industry of their choice.

Apprenticeships

Plan B support young people into apprenticeships as a direct route for young people without the necessary qualifications.

Support for Employers

Employers are able to recruit learners to their workplace for a period of 4 weeks, free of charge and without obligation to offer financial support.

Why us?

Plan B has been a very successful programme, spanning across the last 7 years. Positive outcomes and learner progressions to EET regularly exceed 70% and in 2019, the Youth Service was formally recognised for their achievements, receiving the Children and Young People Now awards Highly Commended Award in the Advice and Guidance category.
