Our Health and Care Academy connects organisations across the region who have been working in partnership to attract – and retain – the best possible workforce for the sector and in doing so, provide the highest levels of care for patients in the community. Our objectives reflect this; to ensure the right development opportunities, information and support structure is in place for our current and future workforce across Suffolk and North East Essex, which in turn empowers a workforce that delivers high standards of care for all.
We take a joined-up approach to connect ‘one workforce’ across the whole system (including primary and secondary care, community and social care). By working together, our current and future generation of workforce will have better means to develop and drive their careers (and patient care) within our partner organisations.
Apprenticeships at a glance:
- A first step on your chosen career path – developing huge potential for your future
- You will get paid while you learn, train and gain hands-on experience for a specific role – you will not incur tuition fees or require a student loan.
- Your wages are covered by your employer, as well as contributions from the government
- Work includes a combination of on and off the job work, with roughly 20% of your time spent in study (e.g. within a college, university or any other training provider)
- Placements can take anywhere from 12 months to 6 years to complete

Work Experience
‘Let’s Talk About’ Sessions:
The aim of these virtual work experience sessions is to provide you with an insight into a role, whilst highlighting the key skills needed within this area as well as some of the rewards and challenges faced.
E-Placements:
These opportunities are online modules which will provide you with an insight into specific health and care roles through a series of videos, tutorials, quizzes and virtual tours. It will help you to develop a greater understanding of the knowledge, skills and behaviours required which will help you make that informed choice about your future career direction.
